I just got word that my restaurant burned a bit this morning. A fire started in an electrical closet, spread to the attic and caused quite a bit of damage before the fire trucks arrived.
My manager says work will be closed for at least a month. I had three days left. Now I have zero.

Snow. Beautiful snow. Beautiful melting snow.
Awaking to snow is always great. Work today was slow. After today I only have four more days of work left, and I can’t wait to be done. It’s become such a social scene; it feels like high school all over again.
Ash’s at school. I remember taking night classes, except mine didn’t last this long. She likes ‘em more than day classes… I think I did too. At OU in the fall I’ll be taking day classes, working at night. I’m hoping my Guard enlistment will keep my work hours low, allowing me to focus on school.

Ash and I went ice skating last night at the rink downtown. I haven’t skated in too long… and just when we were making our last trip around the rink, Ash decided to start racing and I landed square on my face & slid. To say the least, it was a humbling experience.
Today I filled out my final schedule request sheet at work, informing them that Dec. 27 will be my final day at the restaurant. I don’t know what I’m going to do next, but a few big things and a lot of small things contributed to my decision to quit.
Since I’ll be going back to school next month [I saw the school counselor today; I'm in as long as I turn in one transcript], I’ll need some funds: Army Reserves. I’m not quite ready to go active [I wanna go to school], so the Reserves just make sense. I should be able to chat with a recruiter Wednesday.
I voted this morning, before work. I figure I might as well exercise my rights while I still have ‘em. Some of the people I voted for actually won. Maybe the state questions will go the same way.
The restaurant opened for lunch yesterday. 11 hour workdays aren’t too fun, but I figured it’d be this way. Business is a bit slow… soon we’ll be the busiest on the block.
Since I’m working another 11 tomorrow, this is a bit short. ‘Nite.
Today the restaurant is hosting a VIP lunch. We invited more than 50 people [and a guest] to participate, using this as an opportunity to promote our new lunch menu. We’ll open for lunch permanently next Monday, Nov. 6. I’ll be working long days, at the restaurant for upwards of 10 hours a day.
After work, Ash & I are leaving for her parents’ house. We’ll be there for the weekend.
update: The lunch was canceled due to a power outage & a small fire in the kitchen. We cleaned and left.
