Update: Mission accomplished: I got my New Year’s kiss.
I’ve been ignoring fighting a small bump inside my right armpit for a few days. At first, Ashleigh & I thought this bump was just an ingrown hair. Now, we’re not so sure. Whatever it is, it’s definitely infected and getting larger every day.
I’d like to go see my doctor tomorrow, but I don’t have one. Surprised? Don’t be. Millions of Americans don’t have any health coverage. I don’t because I can’t afford the ‘family care’ premium that the National Guard offers me. As a recently married student, struggling to balance a heavy school load with rent, bills, and making time for my wife, the $250+ monthly price for me & Ashleigh is just too steep.
I’ve taken pictures (not pleasing) of this growing problem (I wished I’d taken them initially). Tomorrow, I’m stopping by Ashleigh’s grandmother’s on my way to my parents. Her grandma is a retired nurse, and we’re hoping she can offer some guidance on my best course of action.I’m just hoping that I don’t wake up in the morning to a black demon.
Update: Last night, the infection ruptured during my sleep. The redness is nearly gone, and the swelling is almost all gone, too. I’m going to keep swallowing those multivitamins.
Update #2: The infection has dissipated, nearly 100% healed. Thank you immune system.
Ashleigh and I met up with my mom & sister Ashley at Chili’s yesterday for a late lunch. I hadn’t seen either of them since Christmas Eve, and since Ashleigh & I were both hungry, this was the perfect time to see them again.
After lunch I went to WorstCustomerService BestBuy to spend a gift card I’d received as a Christmas gift. Then I rejoined the girls at the mall. My sister had gotten some $$ for Christmas and was picking out hot new clothes. I even got some shirts for being such a cool husband/son/brother.
My mom gave me & Ashleigh a gift card to Texas Roadhouse. I enjoy receiving restaurant gift cards because they’re a great excuse for a date. We plan on using the gift card then catching a movie or playing some mini-golf (shhh, I haven’t told Ashleigh yet).
Time for some K & L.

Ashleigh & I are going to see 27 Dresses tonight at Harkins. The movie doesn’t open until January, but the theatre is having a sneak preview tonight, and we got tickets.I’m excited to see it… just don’t tell anyone.
Update: We met up with friends Erin & Andy. The movie was clever (at times) and funny. The movie theatre was 90% women, and Andy & I were definitely feeling the elevated estrogen.

Unfortunately, I ran off and left my camera at my grandmother’s house last night, so I could only take a few pictures this morning on the phone.
Ashleigh and I are celebrating our first Christmas together. She’s probably the best gift-giver I know of, so I got some great stuff. But I didn’t do too bad either (although she had to show me exactly what she wanted).
Merry Christmas!
